Don't ask who I am, I just want to help!
I just want to share this to all of you Senior's who are curious about the Entrance Tests you'll be taking up in the future.
Remember that these Entrance Tests are not a joke. I have a lot of classmates in my batch who are Top Achievers but did not even pass.
Things to consider before its too late:
1.) Think of 2-3 probable course you'll be taking on any entrance test you will take, choose it by 1st choice, 2nd choice etc.
2.) Review ahead of time, Spend your Vacation wisely. Buy a Reviewer (choose a good reviewer the ones you can really answer, take note of the skills you'll learn on each number). Think of a strategy like (20 Numbers per day or what...) Focus more on mathematical skills because the skills in math could be applicable in all the test.
3.) Always be prepared to know the schedule of your Entrance Tests as far as i know is that U.P. is earlier, next is Ateneo, next will be U.S.T. then La Salle.
4.) Print your application (applications could be found on their website), think of the teachers who could give you a good recommendation, give your recommendation letter to your teachers earlier. And pass your Application before the deadline. (Take Note. U.P. will be earlier) Think of the Location in U.P. because there are different campus in U.P.
5.) Have a good collection of scores of your 4th year, be prepared for Calculus the most regreted subject in my batch. Calculus could pull down your score if you're not very careful. if possible make your 3rd & 4th grading higher than your past grading because it is very important in all schools especially in U.P. which they will consider first before passing you in their school.
"Remember that you college is your future! The decision you make in the present will reflect your future."
My Tips: (Its up to you to follow or not)
*(You want to pass a certain school but you don't want to school there? You want your name to be called during graduation? Or written on the Black Board? Choose a Non-Quota Course an easy to pass course then most probably you will pass on that certain school. Research on Non-Quota Courses, I can't spoon-feed you with everything @_@)
*Have the Goal! Think positive! Think that you can pass the test if you study harder! (If you think you can't pass the test or you are not sure to pass the test then just don't take the test. I highly recommend you not to take the test if thats what you think.)
*In shading balance your time put a little check mark then make sure to shade after. (Rather than random shading when the time runs out XD)
*Skip a question you don't know then go back if you have time (especially in UPCAT remember right minus wrong)
*Bring your own food (skyflakes perhaps) remember you cannot buy food and sometimes you can't even eat anymore because of time pressure.
*Most important is for you to bring Water to keep your mind going. (Do I have to tell you to bring Water??? Common Sense! @_@)
*Eat the right food to keep you active, remember it will be a half day.
Entrance Test Difficulty Rank (Difficult to Easy)
1.) UPCAT (University of the Philippines)- the most difficult according to them. I suggest to start studying during vacation because UPCAT is the earliest entrance test. difficult because of "right minus wrong" and difficult in Filipino.
contains: Language Proficiency (English and Filipino), Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, Science, and General Intelligence
known in: many courses
test location: BWS Gym as far as i know
2.) ACET (Ateneo De Manila University)- difficult in Abstract Reasoning and Math and with Essay Test
contains: English, Mathematics, and General Intelligence, Essay Writing (sometimes)
known in: Law Courses, Pre-Med, and also a little Business and all the other courses
test location: Holy Name University as far as i know
3.) LA SALLE (De La Salle University)- difficult in Science according to them and if you want to take the LIACOM course you must prepare in its Math and English
contains: Mathematics, English, Science, General Intelligence, Essay Writing (sometimes)
known in: Business Courses, Computer Courses and all the other courses
test location: Sacred Heart Hijas de Hesus in Cebu City as far as i know
4.) UA&P (University of Asia and the Pacific) - Abstract Reasoning and General Intelligence might be difficult in the test
contains: Math Proficiency, Science Proficiency, and English Proficiency
known in: Business Courses and all the other courses
test location:
5.) UST (University of Santo Tomas) - easiest compared in the other colleges above. (if you choose architecture course in UST prepare for an extended 40 mins for your test)
-usually if you still didn't pass UST you still pass in Letran which is connected to UST. (the reason why many names passed in UST)
